Reflection 1

The United Nations has set Millenium Development Goals for the 21^st Century. At the top of the list is halving (cutting in half) the proportion of hungry people in the world. Do you think that freerice.com will help them to achieve this goal? Explain why or why not. In order to get more information, you may go to http://www.wfp.org/english/?n=681 and http://freerice.com. In your explanation, you may include your opinion and/or information that you have read.

Reflection 2

The World Food Programme uses freerice.com and other initiatives to help feed hungry children in schools. (See http://www.wfp.org/food_aid/school_feeding/WFPApproach_INTRO.asp?section=12&sub_section=3. On their website, the caption reads: Nurturing a brighter future: School feeding reduces hunger and improves education.

Do you agree with the caption? Explain why or why not.

Reflection 3

Reflect on the number of rice grains you have earned so far. How many families do you think you have helped? If you could speak to them, what would you say? Write a letter to a family who is experiencing hunger explaining what you are personally doing to help them. Be specific by including your data from freerice.com. You may also include other ways that you and/or your school are helping.
